Oklahoma Tourism Guide for the Motorcycle Touring Enthusiast

Weather Wise

Talimena Scenic Drive

Talimena Scenic Drive (Oklahoma, Arkansas)

Visual delights await those who travel along the Talimena Scenic Drive. See vistas with shades of green in the foreground's forests to blue haze in the distant mountains. Rocky fields and trees gnarled from winter winds and ice testify to the harsh environment the early settlers encountered in these mountains.

Boys in life jackets boating on the Lake of the Arbuckles  The "Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters" appropriately describes Chickasaw National Recreation Area, known for its many mineral springs, cool water, flora, fauna, and wildlife. Here one's mind may wander back in time to when the early American Indian came to this area to rest, relax at the water’s edge, and hunt for their food from the abundant wildlife.

The attack was an important event in the tragic clash of cultures of the Indian Wars era.
