Crowley's Ridge Parkway (Missouri, Arkansas)

See a mixture of plant communities and diversity of species along Crowley's Ridge. Dramatic views abound along the ridge and hills where wildflowers proliferate throughout spring, summer and fall. Travel through natural and historical sites such as Chalk Bluff Natural Area and Civil War Battlesite, and St. Francis National Forest.

Great River Road (Wisconsin, Missouri, Mississippi, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas)

Throughout history, the Mississippi River influenced many lives: the Dakota, Chippewa and Hopewell cultures; early French voyagers; African-Americans seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad; and many more. Through its charming river towns and metropolitan cities, historic sites and cultural artifacts, today's Great River Road still links resources, people and history.

This byway offers an ever-changing panorama as it winds along the Mississippi River. Limestone bluffs provide stunning views in the National Register Districts of Clarksville and Louisiana, home of artist colonies and antiques galore. Truman Home, 219 N. Delaware St.  Harry Truman's story is one of hope & frustration, choice & chance. As President, he took the US from its traditional isolationism into the age of international involvement. Visitors experience the surroundings Harry Truman knew from his formative years as a 22-year-old youth of modest ambition through his retirement and death at age 88 as a former president of the United States.

The Old Courthouse with the Gateway Arch behind  The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson’s role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse.

Concerts are popular in the summer  Two of America's clearest and most beautiful spring-fed rivers make up the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, the first national park area to protect a wild river system. Missouri Motorcycle Touring - Ulysses S Grant National Historic Site - St. Louis, MO
White Haven's Main House, a National Historic Landmark  Ulysses S. Grant is known as the victorious Civil War general who saved the Union and the 18th President of the United States. Few people know about his rise to fame or his personal life. He first met Julia Dent, his future wife, at her family home, named White Haven. Today, that home commemorates their lives and loving partnership against the turbulent backdrop of the nineteenth century.

Missouri Motorcycle Touring - Wilson's Creek National Battlefield - Republic, MO
Cannons at Stop Number 5 (Sigel's Final Position)  Wilson's Creek was the first major Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River, and the scene of the death of Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general killed in combat. Although a Southern victory, the Southerners failed to capitalize on their success. With the exception of the vegetation, the field has changed little and remains in near pristine condition.
